Emergency First Response (CPR & First Aid)
It's Not Just a Diving Thing, It's About Saving Lives
As a dive instructor, you go through a lot of training. Just to be allowed to take the PADI, IDC/IE requires that you've been a Divemaster, which has it's own requirements, like being a Rescue Diver--and on and on.

Emergency First Response, Primary Care (CPR)
Emergency First Response Secondary Care (First Aid)
A requirement for PADI Dive Instructors is that we are also instructors for Emergency First Response, Primary Care (CPR) and Emergency First Response Secondary Care (First Aid). There is also a subspecialty EFR course for providing care to children.
In so many ways, I believe that this training if far more valuable than is learning to dive. Simply put, knowing what to do when an emergency takes place can prevent serious injury or even loss of life.
With that in mind, I am available to anyone who wishes to learn CPR and First Aid. The cost is minimal and the course can take as little as a few hours. I keep the atmosphere light and try to have fun while you learn life-saving skills.
A few months ago, I created a JoeScuba Blogsite with the hope that I could build a community of enthusiastic divers exchanging ideas about SCUBA diving equipment, dive travel, diving safety, vintage SCUBA, diving news, and anything else of interest to divers.
You can even log your dives on the site!
Anyone can join for free. Just click the create an account link on the right side of the page. It's new so please tell everyone you know.
CPR Classes in Your Home
For many of us, arranging busy schedules to accomodate a CPR and First Aid class just isn't practical. In order to encourage as many people as possible to take these important classes, arranements can be made to take Emergency First Response, Primary Care (CPR), Emergency First Response Secondary Care (First Aid), and Emergency First Response, Care For Children to be taken in your own home.
One great thing about Emergency First Response is that there is no age limit, so even young children can learn what to do should an emergency arise. As a parent or guardian, you make the decision about what age you feel is appropriate, but I encourage you to let your kids participate at least in some of the sections.
Call Joe at (775) 324-4400 to make arrangements.
Emergency First Response Classes for Parents
CPR & First Aid - Care For Children
Anyone who has children knows that something unpredictable can happen any time. Kids fall off bikes, run into things, fall into things, choke--honestly, looking back, I have no idea how I survived to see my eleventh birthday! Emergency First Response will empower you to take action should you need to. Many of us are a little nervouse about taking CPR and First Aid classes, but once you do, you'll agree that it was one of the wisest decisions you've ever made.
Would You Know What to Do?
Think about it, if someone you love, or someone at work, or even just walking down the street, were to suddenly collapse, would you know what to do? That's what Emergency First Response is all about.
