JoeScuba: All About Diving
A few months ago, I created a JoeScuba Blogsite with the hope that I could build a community of enthusiastic divers exchanging ideas about SCUBA diving equipment, dive travel, diving safety, vintage SCUBA, diving news, and anything else of interest to divers.
You can even log your dives on the site!
Anyone can join for free. Just click the create an account link on the right side of the page. It's new so please tell everyone you know.
Every year, countless thousands of divers dip into water of every description. We dive for many reasons. For some, scuba diving is simple recreation. Others conduct research seeking to gain a broader understanding of our underwater world. Whatever the reason, scuba diving is different than any other activity. We, as divers, experience a weightless world, where life is abundant and our position in the food chain seems to blur just a little.
For nearly three decades, I have been fortunate to have made thousands of dives the world over. I dive first because I feel a greater sense of my place in this world immersed in aquatic life than I do rushing around topside. And, of course, because there is just great stuff to see.
SCUBA Diving Lessons
My most recent passion is to introduce as many people as possible to diving. We, in Northern Nevada, are fortunate to have access to great diving close by. Whether you plan to dive Lake Tahoe or other nearby lakes, coastal areas like Monterey, or warm tropical reefs, the fun begins with your Open Water Scuba Course.
By the way, if you are getting ready to learn to dive in reno, here's something I think you should see: PADI ADVISORY PAGE
There are lots of well trained, highly qualified SCUBA instructors in Reno. Personally, I was trained by and teach through Sierra Diving Center. I heartily believe that there is no better dive training facility anywhere. If you do a little research, you soon discover that store owner, Keith Chesnut, is legendary in the dive community, so Sierra Diving Center is certainly worth a look.
Advanced SCUBA Instruction
Once you've earned your Open Water Scuba Certification, you'll no doubt, be excited to advance your skills and experience more of what diving has to offer. One great way to gain diving experience, and at the same time, begin working toward Advanced SCUBA Certification, is to join me for PADI Adventure Dives.
PADI Adventure Dives are diving opportuities where we pursue specific underwater interests, like photography & video, deep diving, night diving--you name it.
Vintage Scuba Gear
I have been a vintage SCUBA gear nut for a long time. Once in a while I get the idea that I should organize some kind of a gathering of vintage SCUBA enthusiasts like me to meet and make some dives. For now, I have pictures of some of my old diving stuff.
